The
City of Lewes is tied directly to the sea and it’s almost as old. In the early 1600’s, Dutch settlers looked for new lands to cultivate, new waters to fish and a new place to call home. What happened in the ensuing decades would become the tales of folklore and the stuff of legends. Now, centuries later, we realize it was history in the making and the making of a small but vital and vibrant seaside town whose present day allure, though modern, eclectic and inspired is tied as much to the ways of the sea as it’s always been. The town’s people- year round residents and frequent visitors- wouldn’t have it any other way.
